For six years, the choir at Collinsville High School has sung for other people's supper at the annual madrigal dinner.

This year's dinner is scheduled for Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 and is expected to fill the senses as in years past.

Lisa Neal, CHS choir director, said the evening would mix a new hit television show with entertainment from days gone by."There are two story lines this year," Neal said. "One is a spin-off of 'America's Got Talent' and the other is a twist on Grimm's fairy tales."

Neal said this year's show would feature more singing than previous performances with a theme of the audience being guests to the castle.

Members of both the concert choir and the mixed choir will perform and ensembles will be featured.

Neal said the evening not only kicks off the holiday season but also gives guests a taste of yesteryear.

"We really create an illusion that they are royal guests," she said. "They step back in time and away from the hustle and bustle of the holidays and work world. The food is really tasty, the music is beautiful, and the atmosphere is pleasant and jovial."

This year's event is being catered by Rene's Gourmet To Go from Collinsville and will feature potato corn chowder, mock London broil, sausages with peppers and onions, assorted hearty breads, herb roasted potatoes, glazed carrots, and apple bread pudding with vanilla cinnamon sauce.

"Our new caterer needs a count before Thanksgiving," Neal said. "So, please order your tickets now. Some tickets may be available after Thanksgiving, but only a limited number."

The CHS madrigal dinner will begin with seating at 6 p.m. on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the fellowship hall in the First United Presbyterian Church, 201 East Church Street in Collinsville.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling 346-6320, ext. 1235 or via e-mail at lneal@kahoks.org.
