UPDATED: Local summer festivals
Though June may be under way, events are coming and going on even now. For more local events, check the Southwestern Illinois Tourism Bureau Web site here.Events for the rest of the summer include: August - Mascoutah Homecoming, beginning Aug. 1 to Aug. 3. Focuses on the city's agricultural experience, including animal judging, farm animals, food and rides. Starting and ending times are still tentative. - St. Clair County Fair Aug. 5 to Aug. 9. Food, farm animals, exhibitions and more featured. It begins at 5 p.m. each day, ending at 10 p.m. for exhibits in the exposition building and midnight for exhibits outside. - Fairview Heights hosts "Salute to the Masters" Aug. 23 and 24 in Moody Park, formerly known as Longacre Park. Features a juried art show. It opens to the public beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. Aug. 23; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 24. September - Collinsville hosting the Italian Fest Sept. 19 and 20 downtown. Focuses on the many aspects of Italian American heritage, including food, music and more. Starting and ending times for the festival are still tentative. - Scott Air Force Base showcases American air power at its 2008 Air Show, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sept. 20 and 21. |
